Dr Laura Proudfoot completed her undergraduate studies in medicine at University of Edinburgh in 2003. During her time there, she was also awarded an honours degree in Psychology. Her speciality training in dermatology was undertaken at the internationally renowned St John’s Institute of Dermatology in London. This period included 3 years of research on the characteristic inflammation in epidermolysis bullosa, a genetically inherited blistering disease and it culminated in her being awarded a PhD degree in Genetics and Molecular Medicine. Her work in research was published extensively in the dermatology literature and also presented nationally and internationally at dermatology courses.

On completion of her speciality training, she was selected for a prestigious fellowship in pediatric dermatology at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Northwestern University. This is the largest paediatric dermatology service in the US and this opportunity allowed her to gain vast experience in the diagnosis and management of skin disease in children.

Laura is able to deal with all aspects of general dermatology in both adults and children, including eczema, acne, psoriasis, alopecia, vascular lesions, birthmarks and mole checks and performs intralesional steroid injections; however, she is particularly experienced in dealing with skin disease affecting babies, children and teenagers.

Laura is currently a substantive consultant dermatologist and paediatric dermatologist at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and also works privately at the Harley Street Dermatology Clinic. She is a member of the British Association of Dermatologists, the British Society of Paediatric Dermatology, the Society for Pediatric Dermatology and the Royal Society of Medicine.
